Cedar & Vetiver

A candle is a small fire kept indoors. We started with cedar because it is the smell of old books and grandparents and the kind of quiet that lives in a study. We added vetiver because it grounds the cedar — keeps it from going too sweet, too obvious. This is the candle for the friend who reads in winter. For the parent who builds a fire on the first cold night. For the person who, when you ask what they want for their birthday, says they would like more time to themselves.
